Help save some local horses by having fun with us! August 2013, Triple R Horse Rescue in Cave Creek, AZ. RRR along with Hoofprints of the Heart in Marana worked diligently to remove 11 horses from a small breeding facility in Southern AZ. The breeder has been battling medical conditions for the past several years, and has recently been hospitalized for an unknown duration. As a result the horses could no longer be cared for properly. Please read on for how you can help!
The horses were moved in 2 trips with 2 trailers, start to finish taking about 8 hours. The horses are of varying ages from approximately 6 months up. There is at least one stud colt, not gelded, raising the possibility that any of the mares could presently be pregnant.
All the horses are in need of varying degrees of medical, and hoof care, including the colt that needs to be gelded. The farrier and veterinarian will be treating all of the horses and although the prognosis for all of the animals is good, it will cost the rescues $3000 to $4000 to deal with the horses immediate needs.
Both rescues are in need of help in order to continue normal operations and to recover the unexpected transportation and veterinary expenses associated with rescuing and caring for these magnificent animals. Triple R and Hoofprints are reaching out to the community at large and requesting donations be made to either of these rescues to help defray these inevitable expenses.
Following initial treatment and care, the horses will be up for adoption. Both organizations will be working together to ensure every animal is adopted into a caring home as soon as possible. Most of these horses are young and not halter broke, therefore they will require extensive training. If you are interested in adopting please contact Ken Bacher at Triple R Horse Rescue, 602-317-6176, or James Boudrieau at Hoofprints of the Heart, 520-780-6900.
